Dr. Jones, a noted Egyptologist, reflects on this enigma, saying, “The Egypt pyramids are the enduring testimonies of an advanced civilisation that thrived centuries ago. However, the techniques that led to the precise construction of these colossal structures remain shrouded in shadows. They stand as unsolved riddles within the heart of the desert, silently challenging us to decode their secrets.”
CASE STUDY THREE: THE UNFATHOMABLE DARK MATTER, SCORE: 98
Dark Matter, the unseen cosmic phenomenon that constitutes approximately 85% of the total matter in the universe, is a subject of endless curiosity. Its title, “dark,” reflects our lack of understanding and the inability to detect it through conventional means. Even though its gravitational effects on galaxies and galaxy clusters are evident, measuring it directly or deciphering its exact nature is still a formidable challenge. This invisibility renders it one of the greatest unsolved puzzles in cosmology. Dr. Chen, a respected Physicist, expresses his views on this deep-space anomaly, stating, “Dark Matter, by its nature, evades direct detection. Despite leveraging advanced technologies and conducting elaborate research, we are yet to grasp its underlying properties entirely. As we delve deeper into the universe, the understanding and quantification of Dark Matter remain surprisingly elusive”.
CASE STUDY FOUR: THE MYSTERIOUS STONEHENGE, SCORE: 85
Stonehenge, nestled in the heart of modern-day England, is an iconic prehistoric monument. Dating back to as far as 3000 BC, this landmark is a complex of earth, timber, and stone structures. The most awe-inspiring feature is the circular layout of massive erect stones, which hints at significant symbolic, spiritual, and possibly astronomical significance. However, the enigma doesn’t end here; transporting these stones from large distances, given the technology restrictions of the era, becomes another daunting mystery. Dr. Brown, an experienced Archaeologist, shares his views, stating, “Stonehenge, with its colossal size and alignment intricacies, continues to challenge us. Its actual construction process, the purpose behind it, and the means through which such a remarkable design was accomplished remain grand enigmas buried in time.”
CASE STUDY FIVE: PLATO’S LOST ATLANTIS, SCORE: 75
The lost city of Atlantis, first described by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, is a tale wrapped in mystery. In his dialogues, Plato shared accounts of a utopian civilisation that was inevitably wealthy and highly modernised, and then perished overnight. This account has incited endless speculation and inspired countless quests for this lost empire, yet its actual existence and location continue to be subjects of debate. The city’s description aligns with no known historical civilisation, further adding to the conundrum. Dr. Taylor, a dedicated researcher into the mysteries of Atlantis, underscores the grand mystery, articulating, “Atlantis oscillates between historical legitimacy and myth. As we dive into the oceans or comb historical records, Atlantis’s actual existence and precise whereabouts continue to elude our grasp. We are constantly sifting through conjectures and theories in search of verifiable facts.”

CASE STUDY SIX: THE MYSTIFYING DB COOPER CASE, SCORE: 88
The only unsolved airplane hijacking case in the history of U.S aviation is the infamous DB Cooper incident. On a seemingly normal day in November 1971, a man, later dubbed as DB Cooper, boarded Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305. Armed with nothing more than his cunning and a supposed bomb, he commandeered the plane, demanded and received a ransom of $200,000, and parachuted into the night, never to be seen again. Despite extensive, unrelenting investigations, his identity, supposed parachuting expertise, and fate remains a mystery. FBI Agent Mason, involved in the case, shares his thoughts, “In terms of baffling mysteries, the DB Cooper case takes a top spot. Despite our relentless efforts and investments in unearthing the truth, we haven’t found conclusive answers. The hijacker’s identity and the details of his meticulously planned escape remain elusive.”
CASE STUDY SEVEN: FERMAT’S LAST THEOREM, SCORE: 78
One of the long-standing puzzles in the world of mathematics – Fermat’s Last Theorem – was proposed by Pierre de Fermat in 1637. His assertion that there are no three positive numbers a, b, and c that satisfy the equation a^n + b^n = c^n for any integer value of n greater than two held mathematicians in its thrall for more than three centuries. It appeared deceivingly simple, but a proof evaded some of the greatest minds in mathematics until 1994. Math Scholar Dr. Patel discusses the theorem’s significance, “Fermat’s Last Theorem posed such a complex and challenging problem that it led mathematicians on a chase that lasted over three centuries. The pursuit of a solution to this theorem has been a daunting task that has occupied great minds and driven mathematical advancements.”
CASE STUDY EIGHT: ANTARCTIC ‘BLOODY FALLS’, SCORE: 83
Deep in the frigid expanses of Antarctica, a phenomenon dubbed the ‘Bloody Falls’ paints a chilling spectacle. The iron-rich sub-glacial lake spills a bright red colour down the Taylor Glacier, leading many to believe the colour is due to some bloody discharge. However, it’s the iron in the water reacting with oxygen that results in the blood-like hue. Precisely how this ecosystem survives in the harsh Antarctic conditions, how the falls sustain without freezing and where the water originates remain unsolved. Geologist Dr. Ross discusses this fascinating oddity, “The ‘Bloody Falls’ pose a challenge to our understanding of life’s resilience. Its red flow, caused by iron-rich brine, and the microbiological factors creating this phenomenon are a focal point of research.”
